About
Dr. Owen TM Kendall, MD, MPH, MFA founded Storied Medicine to practice the kind of medicine he always wanted to deliver: unhurried, relationship-driven, and attentive to the whole person. He grew up in Eastern Washington after being born in Vancouver, BC, and spent two six-month stints attending a Bundesgymnasium in Krems, Austria. He went on to study English literature and philosophy at Vassar College, where he played varsity soccer and swam on the varsity swim team for two seasons. After graduating, he spent six years in New York City writing short stories, two novels, poetry, and essays while working in bars and restaurants. That chapter brought him into contact with remarkable doctors and inspired individuals who pointed him toward medicine.
Dr. Kendall earned both his MD and his MPH in Social and Behavioral Science at Boston University School of Medicine, which is affiliated with Boston Medical Center. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Group Health Cooperative/Kaiser Permanente Washington in Seattle. He then spent eleven years with Kaiser Permanente Washington, including eight years at their Kent, WA clinic. During that time he developed deep expertise in caring for individuals living with HIV, transgender and non-binary patients, and people navigating addiction. He also served as KPWA's South King County Dermatology champion and became the go-to provider for sports injury second opinions. He holds an MFA alongside his medical degrees. Outside the clinic, he founded the Forest Hills Runners community group in Boston in 2010, finished 100th overall at the 2014 Boston Marathon, and raced both the Ironman World Championships in 2014 and the Half-Ironman World Championships in 2018.
