About
Dr. Nate Franley grew up in Jefferson, Ohio, just a few miles from the Pennsylvania border. Medicine runs deep in his family. One grandfather was an old-school physician who delivered roughly 3,000 babies in their county. His other grandfather was a veterinarian. His father practiced dentistry. That upbringing shaped his belief in close, community-rooted care.
Dr. Franley earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine, where he discovered his passion for sports medicine under Dr. Roger Kruse, a physician who treated Olympic-level athletes. Between training stages, he spent a summer guiding white-water rafts on the Yellowstone River. He then completed both his Family Medicine residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. During his fellowship, he worked with athletes across competition levels and served on a committee evaluating medical fitness for Cleveland Indians draft prospects. He later joined the Cleveland Cavaliers' medical staff during their first Finals appearance in over 40 years. 5 years serving as medical director of Sports Medicine and Occupational Health and Wellness, team physician for Baldwin Wallace College, and team physician for multiple high schools. Dr. Franley holds board certification in Sports Medicine and resolves 90% of orthopedic conditions without surgery. In 2020, he and his wife Brittney, a professor at Gannon University's physician assistant program, moved to Fairview, PA, with their three children, Andrew, Vivian, and Christopher. Outside the practice, he stays active through running, golf, mountain biking, skiing, and other outdoor pursuits.
