About

Dr. Michael Stewart founded Northwest DPC & Headache in Spokane after years as a faculty clinician and medical educator across multiple regional institutions. He grew up in Lander and Ethete, Wyoming, and earned his BA from the University of Wyoming. He completed his DO at Western University of Health Sciences and an MA at Midwestern University.

Dr. Stewart holds board certification in Internal Medicine from the ABIM and fellowship in the American College of Physicians. He earned an Advanced Qualification in Headache Medicine from the National Headache Foundation, one of the most focused credentials available in that specialty. He previously held certification as an HIV Specialist through the AAHIVS. His teaching career spans hundreds of medical students and residents; he served as site director for internal medicine trainees and received the Washington ACP Full-time Faculty Clinician-Educator of the Year Award in 2023, the UWSOM Richard M. Tucker Regional Internal Medicine Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2024 and 2025, and the Spokane Internal Medicine Resident Teacher of Medical Students of the Year Award in 2021. He is passionate about complex chronic disease, migraine and headache care, HIV management, and diagnostic reasoning. Outside the clinic, he hikes Spokane trails with his wife and dog, builds things in his woodworking shop, reads widely, and plays board games with friends. In college, he helped fund his education performing close-up magic.
