About
Dr. Michael Freedman grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and built an extraordinary academic and humanitarian record before arriving in Annapolis. He earned a Bachelor of Sciences in psychology and biology from the University of Michigan, then completed a Master's in Physiology at Georgetown University. He went on to Hahnemann University Medical School in Philadelphia, where he led a group that built the largest student-run medical system for the homeless in the country. W. Bush awarded him the 807th Daily Point of Light for that work. Medical school faculty recognized Dr. Freedman with multiple honors, including the Joseph A. Langbord Memorial Prize for Humanitarianism in Medicine and the Daniel Mason Award for Excellence in Cardiology. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Emory University in Atlanta and earned board certification in 1997, with recertification in 2007.
After moving to Annapolis in 1997, Dr. Freedman joined Annapolis Internal Medicine and served as Practice Administrator for over a decade. He also became Medical Director of the Annapolis Outreach Clinic, growing its physician roster from 12 to more than 150 and expanding services to include GYN, pediatrics, psychiatry, orthopedics, dermatology, and free radiology. By 2008, the clinic delivered over 6,500 patient visits per year at no charge. Dr. Freedman founded Evolve Direct Primary Care in January 2013 and now serves on the National Steering Committee for the Direct Primary Care Coalition. His clinical interests span cardiology, geriatrics, and preventive wellness for both mind and body. Many of his patients call him Dr. Mike.
