Dr. Matthew Rensberry grew up in Central America, spending his formative years in Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua as a missionary kid. That upbringing gave him fluent Spanish and a broad perspective on health and community. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas.
After residency, Dr. Rensberry joined the 1st Brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division as Brigade Surgeon and deployed to Iraq and Kuwait. He later served as medical director for infantry basic trainees at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following his military career, he moved to central Florida and joined a large residency program as teaching faculty and medical director. He holds board certification in both Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine. His clinical passions include evidence-based weight management, chronic disease management, and preventive care. He authored the book "Lose Weight and Keep it Off! A Clinical Evidence Based Approach for Successful Weight Management" and published an editorial in American Family Physician on the medical use of marijuana. He volunteered for a phase 3 COVID-19 vaccine trial and participated in a cervical cancer prevention mission in Chiapas, Mexico. Outside the clinic, Dr. Rensberry runs, cycles, stand-up paddle-boards, and gardens. He and his wife both competed in Women's Flat Track Roller Derby.
