About
Dr. Kaylan Edwards is a North Carolina native and the founder of Edwards Health in Shallotte. She earned a Bachelor of Science in both Chemistry and Biology from Meredith College in Raleigh. She then attended The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, where faculty chose her as a North Carolina Board of Governors Medical Scholar. The Brody School's mission to train primary care physicians committed to serving North Carolina drew her there. She completed her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at ECU Health in Greenville and earned dual board certifications in both specialties in 2019.
Dr. Edwards is passionate about ADHD, diabetes, mental health, chronic disease management, end of life planning, and lactation support. Her clinical interests span every stage of life, from newborn care through elder medicine. Her grandparents' farm in Whiteville, NC shaped her belief that caring for neighbors like family is the foundation of good medicine. When her husband James urged her not to wait for retirement to move to the coast, she relocated to Brunswick County and has never looked back. In 2022, she and James welcomed their son. She and her family plan to serve Brunswick County and surrounding communities for many years to come.
