About

Kathrym España, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatrician serving families in Houston, Texas. She grew up between two worlds, born in Los Angeles and raised in Venezuela before returning to the United States at age 13. Texas has been her home ever since. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance with honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. She then completed both her medical degree and her pediatric residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, finishing residency in 2007.

Dr. España spent five years at UTMB as a faculty member and Clinical Assistant Professor. Her medical students selected her for the Top Doc award out of more than 100 physicians. She later practiced with Texas Children's Pediatrics in Houston for three years before founding Concierge Pediatrics of Houston. She holds Fellowship status in the American Academy of Pediatrics and speaks English and Spanish fluently. Her clinical passions include newborn care, preventive medicine, and parent education. She created the Spanish-language online course Más que una Pediatra to extend pediatric guidance to bilingual families. She also serves as Laboratory Director for the practice's CLIA-accredited lab. Outside of medicine, she enjoys ballet, modern dance, theater, and yoga. She and her husband, Dr. Jonathan Espana, an OB/Gyn in Houston, are raising two children together.
