Dr. Kara Beair Butler is a board-eligible osteopathic physician dually trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She grew up in Oklahoma and knew from age three that she would become a doctor. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Oklahoma City University. She then pursued her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. At OSU-COM, she joined the inaugural class of the Rural Health Option, gaining focused training in rural medicine and health disparities across Oklahoma. She completed her dual residency in Adult Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the OU School of Community Medicine. Upon finishing residency, she received the Pediatric Undeniable Award, given to the resident who takes pleasure in hard work, seeks knowledge, and lives a life of resilience.
Before founding Beair Medical Group, Dr. Beair Butler served as Medical Director of the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Clinic at OU, Director of the Heart Improvement Project, and Medical Director of the Street Outreach Clinic at Youth Services of Tulsa. She also led the Hurricane Health Clinic and the Alexander Health Center at TU. In 2019, she helped develop and teach the Community Medicine Curriculum for Tulsa Term. Holland Hall School named her the 2017 Young Alumni Award recipient, and she currently serves as Vice President of the Holland Hall Alumni Board. Her brother Brian's Type I Diabetes diagnosis over 25 years ago deepened her passion for chronic illness care. Her family co-founded the Green Country Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She has served as a counselor and member of the Medical Staff at Camp Lo-Be-Gon, a day camp for children with Diabetes, for 23 years. Outside of medicine, she coaches Jenks Girls Softball Federation and spends time cooking, crafting, and traveling with her husband Grant and their three children.
