John M. Rashkis, MD has served the Santa Clara County community since 1977, when he began his career as an emergency physician at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. He established his private family medicine practice in Los Gatos in 1981. Early in that practice, he also worked part-time as an emergency medicine physician at Alexian Brothers Hospital in San Jose.

Dr. Rashkis spent most of the 1980s as Medical Director for Santa Clara County paramedics. In that role, he co-developed a Trauma System Plan unveiled in 1986, covering traumatic injuries and pandemic response across Santa Clara and neighboring counties. He then served as Medical Director for skilled nursing facilities throughout the region from 1988 into the 1990s, and later as Medical Director at Masonic Homes of California from 1997 to 2001. He helped found the Department of Hospital Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital and assists in its ongoing management. He also volunteers regularly at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose and El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos, treating patients who cannot pay. Dr. Rashkis is passionate about preventive care, chronic condition management, and whole-body wellness. A martial artist and weightlifter, he enjoys walks on the beach with his two dogs. He lives in Los Gatos with his wife Karen; their two adult sons are attorneys.
