About

Dr. John Piersma grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Michigan, where he studied Kinesiology with a focus in Exercise Physiology. While there, he competed on the university swim team and represented the United States as a member of the 1996 USA Olympic Team. He went on to complete his medical degree at The University of Michigan Medical School and finished both his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan Health System from 2005 to 2008. During his training, he received the Kenneth R. Stark Research Excellence Award.

Dr. Piersma holds board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine, having certified in 2008, 2018, and 2020. He is a member of the American College of Physicians. After training, he built more than a decade of clinical experience in the Cincinnati area, practicing at Internal Medicine Associates of Northern Kentucky and The Christ Hospital Forest Hills Internal Medicine before founding his current concierge practice. He holds hospital privileges at The Christ Hospital and Mercy Hospital. His clinical focus spans preventive medicine and chronic disease management, and he places the long-term doctor-patient relationship at the center of his care philosophy.
