Dr. John Bream grew up in Hamlet, a small railroad town in the Sandhills region of North Carolina. S. A. in History, graduating summa cum laude. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Dr. Bream completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Vidant's ED ranks routinely among the top 30 busiest emergency departments in the United States. His residency included one of the last intern classes to train under 30-hour call shifts. He holds board certification from the American Board of Emergency Medicine and serves as a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. After residency, he practiced at multiple emergency departments across Charlotte, the Triad, and critical access hospitals in Eastern NC. He spent five years as Medical Director at Novant Rowan Medical Center, taking the department from one of the lowest-performing EDs in the country to one of the top performers in the Novant system. He also serves as Medical Director of Immunotek Bio Centers' plasma donation facility in High Point, NC. Dr. Bream has treated or consulted on more than 1,200 long COVID patients and co-authored two peer-reviewed papers on the condition. During the COVID delta wave, he independently launched a telemedicine service and treated approximately 1,300 acute COVID patients with zero deaths. Outside the clinic, he enjoys golf, tennis, running, traveling to the beach, and spending time with his wife Jen and son Lincoln.
