Dr. Joel Schumacher is a board-certified family physician and the founder of Schumacher Family Medicine in Plymouth, Indiana. S. D. from Indiana University Medical School in 1992. He then completed his family practice residency at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Schumacher first came to Plymouth in 1995, joining Dr. Kent Guild to establish Plymouth Family and Internal Medicine. In 2013, he left traditional practice to help develop employer-based healthcare delivery in Valparaiso and Merrillville. That work deepened his passion for Direct Primary Care. He opened Schumacher Family Medicine in 2017 to bring that model to Marshall County. He cares deeply about restoring the personal doctor-patient relationship and helping patients reduce out-of-pocket health costs.
