About
Dr. Elizabeth Baker is a board-certified family physician with close to four decades of experience across private practice, public health, academic medicine, and corporate medicine. She grew up in downstate Illinois and graduated with honors from The University of Chicago. She earned her MD from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, then completed her family medicine residency at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
While in Pittsburgh, Dr. Baker served on the faculty of her residency program and conducted grant-funded research in obstetrics. She held a physician role at a small women's college there, deepening a clinical interest in women's health that she carries to this day. In 1997, she relocated to northern Illinois, where her practice expanded to include home deliveries before she eventually narrowed her focus to outpatient care. She now treats patients of all ages at Sanctuary Family Health, with particular attention to women's health, preventive care, chronic disease management, and breast cancer awareness. Outside of medicine, she and her husband are the parents of six children, one grandchild, and one very energetic dog.
