at Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Medical — New York, NY

About

Dr. Elena Klimenko trained across two countries before building one of New York City's most clinically diverse integrative practices. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Moscow Sechenov School of Medicine in 1994 after completing a six-year program in clinical and basic sciences. She then pursued postgraduate certification in laparoscopy and general surgery in Russia before relocating to the United States, where she completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine in Brooklyn.

Dr. Klimenko holds board certification in Internal Medicine and earned her IFM Certified Practitioner credential through the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2014. Her training in integrative medicine began with a fellowship at Continuum Center for Health & Healing at Albert Einstein School of Medicine from 2003 to 2005. During that period she also completed her medical acupuncture licensure through the Helms Institute for Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She later added certifications in homeopathy, bioidentical hormone balance, T3 thyroid therapy, ONDAMED, and advanced training in reversing cognitive decline under Dale Bredesen, MD. She is passionate about gut health, hormonal balance, heavy metal detoxification, tick-borne illness, chronic inflammatory response syndrome, and the gut-skin connection. Her clinical philosophy is direct: she takes the time to discover root causes rather than prescribing medications to suppress symptoms. Since 2005, she has also served as a physician at Institute for Family Health, a community clinic caring for Medicaid and Medicare patients.
