Dr. Christie Shen grew up in Pflugerville, Texas and completed her undergraduate education at Southwestern University in Georgetown. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, then trained in the San Jose O'Connor Hospital Family Medicine Program. After residency, she joined the faculty of that same program, teaching while also practicing clinically.

In 2011, Dr. Shen returned to Central Texas to practice family medicine and teach at Scott and White in Temple. She later served as Medical Director and faculty member at Williamson County and Cities Health District with a local preventive medicine residency for two years. She subsequently spent five years at Baylor Scott and White in Round Rock as both a clinician and faculty member.
