He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry with a minor in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then attended the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he earned election to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his Family Practice residency at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. During that residency, he launched the Sports Medicine Fellowship program at Halifax Hospital and became its first Fellow.
