About

Allison Pope Barbee, MD, founded SustainMD after two decades of practicing family medicine. A. D. from Jefferson Medical College in 2003, graduating through the Physician Shortage Area Program. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Maine Medical Center in 2006 and has held board certification in Family Medicine ever since.

Growing up in rural Maine, Dr. Barbee witnessed how limited access to care shaped health outcomes for entire communities. Dr. Barbee is passionate about metabolic health, insulin resistance, PCOS, and hormonal imbalances. She approaches every patient with a whole-person lens, integrating behavioral health, nutrition, and evidence-based medicine into each care plan.
